Doug Long, MBA, vice president of industry relations at IQVIA, discussed changes in the pharmaceutical industry over the course of his decades-long career after he gave the keynote address at the 2024 Annual National Conference in Orlando, Florida, last week.
Some of the major changes: The shift in spending from traditional to specialty drugs and from prescriptions being dispensed largely at retail drugstores to shipping via mail order pharmacies.
Long started with IMS Health in 1989. IQVIA is the company created by the merger of IMS Health and Quintiles, a contract research organization, in 2016.
