Doug Long, vice president of industry relations at IQVIA, a frequent speaker at the PBMI Annual National Confernece and other pharmaceutical and managed care meetings, discussed what he sees as the fragile state of U.S. healthcare, pharmacy "deserts" and the relatively small number of new drug launches so far in this year.

Long sees the U.S. healthcare as being in a precarious position because of the number of retiring doctors, declining enrollment in pharmacy schools after years of increaes and cyberattacks such as the Change Healthcare attack earlier this year.
