The results are in, and 60% of readers think copay accumulators should be banned.
So far, 20 states have moved to ban copay accumulators.
Health insurers and PBMs in favor of the ban say that copay accumulators counteract copay insurance programs. Patient groups say accumulator programs make important drugs more expensive and cause harm because people can’t afford their medications after the copay assistance support runs out and they have to pay full price till the deductible is met
