The EmsanaRx Plus program is connecting employers to the discounted drugs offered through Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company. The program will be available beginning March 1, 2023
The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company and EmsanaRx are collaborating to launch EmsanaRx Plus, a first-of-its-kind drug discount program is designed as a standalone product to supplement a self-insured employer’s PBM product. The program will be available beginning March 1, 2023.
EmsanaRx Plus will provide discounts offered through the Cost Plus Drug Company without employees having to go outside of their health plan benefits. EmsanaRx Plus advocates will assist both employers and employees interested in transferring their medications to the new option, and coordinate with providers on behalf of patients.
“Like Cost Plus Drugs, EmsanaRx is working to disrupt the current pharmacy supply chain to eliminate the unnecessary markup and profiteering that is burdening businesses and consumers with high drug costs,” Mark Cuban said in a press release. “By partnering with a company as committed to transparency as Cost Plus Drugs, and with the technological capabilities to customize to the needs of self-funded employers, we are able to bring lower cost medicines to a wider swath of the American public.”
As of Dec. 7, 2022, there are just over 1,000 prescriptions available on Cost Plus Drug Company. For this program, Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is the sole pharmacy and will deliver prescriptions to members by mail. But employers must access the program through EmsanaRx
EmsanaRx will provide employers access to their data from the EmsanaRx program ad will be provided a standard reporting package on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Cost Plus Drugs, which launched in January 2022, has recently begun to team up with partners to provide enhanced access. In October 2022, Cost Plus Drugs began working with Vivo Health to provide access to specialty drugs. And also in October 2022, Capital Blue Cross in Harrisburg, Pa., announced that beginning in 2023, members will be able to use their insurance cards when purchasing medications at Cost Plus Drugs. This marks the first time the online pharmacy will accept insurance.
