Amy Flaster, M.D., has been recently appointed as Cigna Healthcare’s chief medical officer, replacing Scott Josephs, M.D, who served in the role for 25 years.
In a farewell letter announcing his retirement, Josephs expressed confidence in Flaster’s ability to enhance health outcomes, highlighting her experience and passion.
In her new role, Flaster will lead Cigna Healthcare’s clinical organization, focusing on initiatives to improve customer experience and deliver better health outcomes.

Brian Evanko, president and chief executive officer of Cigna Healthcare said in a press release that Flaster’s expertise, leadership and passion for improving health outcomes will help the organization provide high quality care for the millions of customers they serve.
Flaster brings extensive experience to the organization, spanning from patient care, public health, value-based care, technology and clinical strategy.
As a current practicing physician at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, she will continue to serve her community by delivering primary care.
Flaster will bring in clinical insights in this new role and ensure quality and equity across Cigna Healthcare’s offerings for U.S. and international clients.
She earned her M.D. and M.B.A. from Harvard University and completed her Internal Medicine training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Her previous roles include chief medical officer at ConcertoCare, where she led clinical strategy and product development and leadership positions at Health Catalyst, supporting providers in shifting to value-based care.
She also held roles at Mass General Brigham focusing on Medicare, Medicaid and employee health.
Flaster currently serves on the faculty of Harvard Medical School.
