51% of Medicaid-Eligible New Englanders Report Health Inequities
A new survey of Medicaid-eligible New England residents examines healthcare inequities in detail.
More than half (51%) of New England residents report that they have faced inequities in healthcare, according to the results of a nationally representative survey by Siftwell, an AI-centered digital healthcare consulting company.
The report focuses on the status of racial, ethnic, behavioral and mental health needs of Medicaid eligible residents in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Results were collected from May 7 – 13 of this year. In total, there were 1,752 respondents.
The following findings demonstrate that Black, Hispanic and American Indian/Alaska Native populations still face more barriers when compared with White communities despite progress made through the Affordable Care Act. Fixing these issues would mean getting to the bottom of structural issues such as residential segregation, economic suppression, historical system bias and a lack of representation in healthcare providers.
